Logan Circle, Washington, D.C.

Logan Circle in Washington, D.C.

Logan Circle is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Home to historic Victorian brownstones and new luxury condos, the neighborhood has a distinct charm and character that sets it apart from other communities in the DC metro region.

Originally called Iowa Circle, the community was renamed by Congress in 1930 to honor Civil War hero John Logan. In the early 20th century, Logan Circle was an affluent neighborhood and home to many African-American leaders, including Mary McLeod Bethune. In the late 1960s, however, it fell into decline with serious peace and order issues.

The neighborhood was gradually redeveloped in the 1970s, starting with the restoration of the area’s original brownstones, and continuing on to the construction of luxury mixed use developments.

Today, with a population of around 7,800, Logan Circle is not only a highly desirable residential community but also a popular dining, shopping, and entertainment haunt in the Washington, D.C. area. A highly walkable community, its central location puts residents in close proximity to schools, offices, and many of the top attractions in the metro.
