In all of Washington, D.C.’s almost 69 square miles of total area, the Northwest quadrant is by far the liveliest, busiest, and most vibrant part of the city. It occupies the area located between the National Mall and North Capitol Street.
Often simply called Northwest, this is the largest among DC’s four quadrants and home to approximately half of the city’s population. It also serves as the home of most of the city’s iconic landmarks and attractions, such as the White House, Smithsonian, and National Zoo.

- Kalorama – Divided into two neighborhoods, the Kalorama area might feel, at first glance, glitzy and glamorous. Getting around Northwest
It’s easy to get in and around Northwest DC. There are multiple Metro lines that serve the quadrant, each with several stations spread across the area. Take note, however, that some neighborhoods in Northwest don’t have their own Metro stations. Georgetown, for instance, doesn’t have one, and the nearest stations are Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom.

- Explore Rock Creek Park, one of the largest parks in all of Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1890 and is home to miles of trails, old hardwood trees, as well as attractions like the Smithsonian National Zoo and the Rock Creek Park Planetarium.
